Our Story
We're Eric and Stacia Mueller, and EDGE Welding Supply is our family business. We both grew up in small towns in Colorado, met in high school through mutual friends, and reconnected years later. A year after that, we were married.
Like many young couples, we spent our early years jumping from job to job, trying to figure out our path. Eric eventually landed with a glass blowing company and built a 20-year career as their top producer of hand-blown scientific glass.
A Life-Changing Move
Life threw us a curveball when Stacia was diagnosed with an eye condition that would eventually cause blindness unless we moved to a location with lower altitude and higher humidity. After careful consideration, we chose North Carolina as our new home.
Eric's company didn't want to lose their highest producer, so we started M5 Scientific Glassblowing and became their exclusive vendor. This was our first step into entrepreneurship.
The Birth of EDGE
Looking to expand, we noticed a gap in the market for custom TIG welding cups. Eric's extensive glassblowing background made the transition to welding consumables a natural fit. He designed and patented the EDGE Welding Cup system, starting with just 5 basic replacement pyrex cups. Today, we manufacture over 200 different styles and sizes, including custom cups and products for major welding machine manufacturers.
As EDGE grew, so did our family involvement. We hired our daughter for production, then her husband joined us, followed by our son. We became a true family business.
Building the Supply Store
With a passion for anything with an engine that goes fast, we opened a welding supply store in Race City USA (Mooresville, NC). As more customers stopped by for EDGE cups, they kept asking for other parts—filler wire, gas lenses, torches, and more.
During one of our weekly family dinners, we discussed the growing demand. Everyone weighed in, and we decided to build a showroom in our facility.
Where We Are Today
Our showroom continues to grow, serving local fabricators, race teams, car builders, hot rodders, and Orbital welding, Pipe fitters, aerospace, welding shops. We operate www.edgeweldingcups.com and www.edgeweldingsupply.com. Our EDGE welding cups are now used in everything from micro welds to rockets.
Our Commitment to You
Through conversations with customers, we kept hearing the same frustrations—poor customer service, lack of product knowledge, and rude treatment from industrial gas suppliers. We decided to do things differently.

Are we perfect? No. Will we mess up? Probably. But when we do, we'll own it and make it right.
