Need Help Choosing the Right Setup?
Choosing the right equipment depends on your application, material, and welding conditions.
- For more control and precision → use smaller components and tighter setups
- For more coverage and larger welds → use larger setups and higher gas flow
- For high-heat applications (like aluminum) → use materials designed to handle increased temperatures
- For tight spaces → use more compact profiles
If you’re unsure what you need, start with a complete setup or kit and build from there.

EDGE Laminar Flow (LF) Series – Engineered Gas Coverage for TIG Welding
These laminar flow tig cups are built to improve gas coverage, visibility, and control during tig welding. The EDGE Laminar Flow (LF) Series Pyrex and quartz cups use our diffuser technology to create smoother shielding gas flow for cleaner welds and greater tungsten stick out.
Key Benefits
- Engineered Gas Coverage – Laminar flow design improves shielding consistency and overall flow at the cup
- Greater Stick Out – Maintain coverage while extending tungsten further
- Improved Visibility – Clear glass for better control of the weld puddle during tig work
- Cleaner Welds – Reduced contamination and more stable results
- Built for Real-World Welding – Designed for both everyday and advanced applications
Available Sizes
- Sizes: #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #10, #10 shorty (10 shorty Pyrex only)
- Diffuser options: 1/16, 3/32, 1/8, 5/32 (We do not recommend 5/32 in Pyrex smaller than 7 cup size)
- LF Series will expand to include XL, XXL, Quartz, large diameter, and collet body configurations.
What Makes EDGE Different
- Integrated diffuser technology for even gas distribution
- Hand-made in the USA from laboratory-grade borosilicate (Pyrex) glass and high temp Quartz
- Precision fit for consistent performance
- Size-labeled for quick identification
- Heat treated for durability and longer service life
Why Laminar Flow TIG Cups Matter
Traditional gas coverage can become turbulent, especially at higher flow rates or extended stick out. EDGE laminar flow tig cups help smooth and stabilize shielding gas for more consistent weld quality.
In controlled testing, this design produces a stable gas stream with virtually no turbulence. That supports cleaner, more repeatable results in real use.
Torch Compatibility
- WP9 / WP20 / WP25 series
- WP17 / WP18 / WP26 series
- Collet body options available
Recommended Applications
- Stainless steel
- Titanium
- Inconel
- Nickel-based alloys
- Aluminum (Pyrex short runs and appropriate cup size, Quartz up to 400A)
Setup Guidelines
- Ensure the EDGE adapter and cup are fully seated on the Teflon heat shield for proper gas flow and safety
- Recommended for DC welding applications
- Amp ranges depend on cup size, diffuser, and material
- Larger cups, quartz and longer stick out allow for higher amperage use
Important Notes
- Replacement Pyrex and Quartz cups must be used with EDGE adapter and o-rings
- Avoid walking the cup with Pyrex glass to prevent premature wear
- Diffuser amperage limits should be followed based on size
- Extended stick out should be used in controlled environments for best results
Quartz Cup Options
- 100% pure optical quality Quartz material
- Compatible with all metals, and designed specifically for aluminum
- Higher temperature resistance than Pyrex
- Can handle higher amperage applications
- Compatible with EDGE diffuser technology
For welders comparing diffuser styles, these laminar flow tig cups are made for stable coverage, clear visibility, and dependable fit. They also support setups associated with tig notaro preferences where control and puddle visibility matter.
